In the spring of 2021, the PHC purchased a historic century-old Dutch Colonial home from the city of Pontiac’s demolition list. A devastating fire had all but completely destroyed the house, located at 39 Ivy Street in the landmark General Motors Modern Housing Neighborhood. Rather than let yet another home meet the wrecking ball (close to 2,000 blighted properties were demolished in Pontiac in the 2010’s), the PHC sought to bring this corner of the block back to life.
Our Goal: Find innovative and affordable ways to redevelop our city’s blighted homes for new tenants while working with local contractors and businesses.
Our Results: On a sunny Mother’s Day morning in 2024, a single-mother and her two children walked through the front door of their new home for the first time.

The family now has the option to purchase the house with the PHC assisting on the path to homeownership.
