Carriage Place Apartments offers 234 affordable apartment units just outside of downtown Pontiac, housing a diverse community of families, singles and seniors. The development features lakeside views and a large outdoor green space, in house laundry, recreation and a computer lab for resident’s use.
Carriage Place Apartments is currently undergoing a $40.3 million rehabilitation process in partnership with Lighthouse, a Pontiac-based nonprofit dedicated to fighting homelessness. This transformational project is part of a Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) Conversion that will move the housing development from Section 9 Public Housing to the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program, which offers more flexibility for individuals using rental assistance vouchers. This project is made possible by funding from Michigan State Housing Development Authority tax credits, with aid from Oakland County HOMES funds and reserve funds from the Pontiac Housing Commission.
As of Winter 2022, all 234 units have been completely renovated, improving quality of life for more than 300 residents while updating every facet of the 150,230 square-foot building’s infrastructure, from plumbing to new roofs, windows, HVAC systems, landscaping and more. Final landscaping work and new program implementation will be complete in early 2024.
